I have put together this fundraising page so that I can explain why these two charities are so important to me and worthy of your donations. Justgiving isn’t set up in a way that allows me to split the donations equally to each charity so I would love it if you could either donate an equal amount to each charity or support whichever one needs to catch up the most!
Why do I support Dan’s Fund for Burns?
Dan’s Fund for Burns was established in 2003 by Mrs Polly Miller following the terrorist bombings in Bali. Polly's husband of five weeks, her bridesmaid, and seven other friends were all killed by the terrorists on 12th October 2002, and Polly was the sole survivor of the party of ten. Polly was left with devastating emotional and physical scars (and excruciating burns that covered 43% of her body). Polly then dedicated her life to help others. I am constantly inspired by Polly’s incredible and tireless work to help other burn victims. The charity she established has created good out of evil and is a permanent tribute to her husband Dan Miller. http://www.dansfundforburns.org
Why do I support the Kent Surrey Sussex air ambulance?
In August 2015 our friends’ son, George Elliott, had a catastrophic brain haemorrhage and although the air ambulance got a specialist medical team out to George, the severity of the haemorrhage meant he never regained consciousness. His resuscitation though did ensure his wish to be an organ donor was able to be fulfilled and now several others are leading a life again thanks to George. The KSS air ambulance relies almost entirely on donations and fundraising to continue their life-saving work. Please donate in memory of George Elliott. www.kssairambulance.org.uk
