Over the weekend of 4th - 5th October 2014 B Squadron will be celebrating the last few months of the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s) (9/12L) before their Army 2020 Amalgamation with the Queens Royal Lancers in 2015 by cycling on exercise bikes from their Home Headquarters (HHQ) at Tigers Road, South Wigston to their Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) in Hohne, Germany.
The virtual journey is 645miles (which can be viewed on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/KbjPp) which will take us through England, France, Belgium, Netherlands and into Germany. This journey has been part of the 9/12L’s soldiers commute to their permanent base in Hohne since 1980.
As there are various units involved and supporting this challenge we have decided that we will support twocharities, each of these charities has been nominated by the units involved:
Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force have nominated the ABF: The Soldiers Charity
B Squadron (9/12L), Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force have nominated Heart Link (East Midlands Children's Heart Care Association) based at the Glenfield Hospital, Leicestershire.
