You may or may not know that each year a number of Gartner associates join Tech Industry colleagues in an organised sleep out for Action for Children.
This year, Maite, Geraldine, Joe and David will be taking on the challenge of "sleeping rough" for one night in London.
Here is why we do it:
Last year, over 80,000 young people slept rough in the UK. Forced out of their homes due to family breakdown, the deaths of relatives or to escape abuse, these young people – these children – don’t have anywhere to go and end up sleeping rough. Out on the streets, they are vulnerable to violence, sexual exploitation, addiction and mental health problems. One in three will attempt suicide.
Fortunately, Action for Children (AFC) is there to help, in so many ways. AFC sees thousands of vulnerable young people who are left to live alone - which often results in homelessness – and works to help them off the streets by offering practical and emotional support. They run early intervention programmes , like the ones at Ladywood Family Centre, they support families at risk, at Derby Family Solutions, and they find homes for children, at Midland Fostering – and so much more.
This year, we are joining Byte Night, the one-night sleep-out by the business community to raise money and awareness to fight youth homelessness. With your help, we can help AFC help homeless children. Please support Byte Night this year. Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
