During Jessica's four year journey with leukaemia, we were fortunate to have the help and support of many charities. Childhood cancer is an unimaginably difficult road, thankfully the majority of people won't find this out. Many organisations have helped us to travel that road and have provided the support we have needed to give the best quality of life possible to Jessica during her short, difficult, but ultimately happy life.
If you are reading this it is likely that you would like to raise some money for some fantastic causes in Jessica's memory. Martin, Zoe and I are grateful for this. We hope you will join us to raise money for the main charities which helped Jessica and ourselves.
The Grand Appeal - The charity which supports the Bristol Children's Hospital where Jessica had all her treatment and spent a considerable amount of time.
Clic Sargent - Jessica benefited greatly from the work of the play specialists this charity funds in hospital and also Clic nurses who were able to give her some care at home. More recently Martin, Zoe and I have benefited from their bereavement support.
Children's Hospice South West - Jessica never had any contact with Charlton Farm Children's Hospice, but when the absolute worst had happened they cared for Jessica with respect and put us into a caring and protective bubble, which we really needed. We also witnessed the amazing work they do with seriously ill and terminally ill children. It really is the most wonderful place.
Additionally, if you are having a haircut and want to donate your hair to a good cause, then please consider the Little Princess Trust who provide wigs for children who lose their hair during treatment. Jess loved her wig and it gave her so much confidence, but these wigs are expensive to make. Why not consider a sponsored hair cut?
