Jessica and Chris' TGO Challenge

Team photo

In May, Chris and I are taking part in The Great Outdoors Challenge, an annual event where participants walk from Scotland's west coast to the east, following their own personally planned route. We applied last year to take part in the 38th TGO Challenge and were accepted to be among the 300 participants. We will be crossing Scotland from Shiel Bridge  to Montrose. We aim to walk 291km (181 miles) in 14 days carrying all our equipment for the journey. We will be wild camping for the majority of the trip, stopping at hostels for just three nights.

This will be a tough challenge for us both as, although we do a fair amount of hill walking, I have only been out for one night (two days walking) and Chris has been out for a maximum of four days. we have therefore spent a lot of time route planning, organising, and training.

You can keep up-to-date with our progress here: https://cjoutdoors.wordpress.com/category/tgo-challenge/

We are fundraising for two charities: Bliss and Scottish Mountain Rescue.

Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We are supporting this charity to help ensure babies like my nephew, who was born nine weeks early, have the best possible start in life.

Scottish Mountain Rescue represents 23 volunteer rescue teams that all offer a world class, front line, voluntary search and rescue service.

Please have a look at the pages below to find out more details. Thank you very much!
