We have joined together to raise money for St Johns Hospital Obs & Gynae team - supporting their projects.
First, to upgrade the family room on the Gynaecology Ward. This space has many uses for example it’s where doctors can take women to break the news that they have cancer. Or it allows women to spend time away from a clinic area after hearing difficult news.
Second, to improve the Colposcopy recovery area where women can go after having treatment in clinic. Colposcopy treats women with positive smear results and who may have early signs of cancerous cells. It's key to have a welcoming area for women after undergoing what can be a stressful procedure.
Whilst both facilities do exist, they would benefit from an upgrade to make them more welcoming for women and their families. Having a calm area where women can talk and have tea or coffee is invaluable after what may have been a very difficult experience.
