Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

A team of firefighters from Skipton, North Yorkshire, are looking to take on the national 3 peaks 24 hour challenge, scaling the mountains of; Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell Pike (England) & Snowdon (Wales) to raise some pennies for two very worthwhile causes in the Breast Cancer Care charity & Danny Jones Defibrillator fund (via the RFL benevolent fund).

In 2018, thanks to you amazing people we managed to raise just short of 10K for the charity candlelighters, a trust based in leeds general infirmary that help to support children fighting cancer. We achieved this incredible amount via various activities including; open days, climbing Ben Nevis, hiking the 26 mile Yorkshire 3 peaks and during two Christmas market tombola's. To put this in to even more of a perspective, the 10K was raised purely by volunteers.

This year we would like to keep the momentum going and what greater way to do this than take on Britain's highest peaks. Although we plan to continue and support the candlelighters trust, we would like this event to be split equally between Breast cancer care & the Danny Jones Defibrillator fund.

We are supporting Breast Cancer Care because; one of our female firefighters, Tanya, who's beloved mum sadly passed away from breast cancer in 2004 has now been diagnosed with the disease. Tanya, who is also mum of two beautiful twin boys herself, grew up in lothersdale nr Skipton before eventually moving to Northallerton & Richmond to become one of our elite firefighters in North Yorkshire. In November last year Tanya noticed something did not feel right in her breasts. Despite doctors telling Tanya that she had nothing to worry about, she thought otherwise and after further tests, was diagnosed with multiple cancerous tumours in her breasts and lymph nodes. Tanya has now had both breasts removed and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. I can genuinely say that Tanya is one of, if not thee, most amazing people I have ever met. Tanya's selfless, caring personality & determination to succeed makes her stand out above the rest. To prove how amazing Tanya is, despite currently undergoing chemo, once this is complete she is already planning to do the Death Valley Marathon in Canada, what an incredible lady!!!! Skipton fire station has also been affected with this awful disease over recent years as two of our former Firefighters wives, Bev & Gill, have also undergone surgery for this awful disease, however with great sadness Bev sadly passed away after a short battle. Lets beat this bastard!!!!!!!!!!! We would like to wish Tanya, Gill and thousands of other amazing ladies, a speedy recovery we hope this small gesture will help a little.

We are also supporting the Danny Jones Defib Trust because;  In our line of work within the emergency services, sadly we see just how vital defibrillators are on all too regular occasions. We would like to help Lizzie Jones, a truly inspirational lady who has worked tirelessly to raise awareness & funds for defibrillators to be supplied & fitted in all rugby clubs and wider communities. Lizzie has taken on this mission following the death of her husband & professional rugby league player Danny Jones in 2015. Danny collapsed and died from an undiagnosed heart condition whilst playing for Keighley Cougars against London Skolars. Defibrillators cost around £1,000 each and provide potentially life saving treatment to anyone suffering a cardiac arrest. We wish all those effected by Danny's tragedy all the best and hope this will go a little way to help Lizzie and her team to achieve their goal

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully to support even if just a penny per fund.
