Steven and Vanessa's 160ft bungee jump

Team photo

We have both been thinking of raising money for Alzheimer’s Research. This condition gets very little coverage, and there is still a lot to learn about it. Then, on March 12th 2015, Steven’s favourite author – Sir Terry Pratchett – passed away.

He suffered from a form of Alzheimer’s disease, Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA). As the disease progresses memory function becomes impaired. The posterior cortex is responsible for visual function, so PCA also robs people of their ability to read simple lines of text, perceive moving and stationary objects and their ability to move around. As an author of 70 books, 40 of which form the world-famous Discworld series, the “embuggerance” as he referred to it had a profound effect on his writing.

Sir Terry, while a patron of Alzheimer’s Research UK, was also a trustee for the Orangutan Foundation. One of his greatest Discworld characters is the Librarian – a wizard transformed into an orangutan by an unfortunate magical accident.

So we are going to jump from a crane 160ft over the Wyboston Lakes with a piece of stretchy string tied around our ankles! We hope you will all dig deep to help us support these two great charities!

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails.
