On July 17th, Harry, Freddie, Barney and Jimmy (The Mongolian Flat Earth Society) will set out on a huge adventure to conquer the Mongol Rally. We will be tootling along in a cheap, shoddy 1000cc car for over 10,000 miles from London to Ulan-Ude in Russia. For 8 weeks we will travel across Europe and Asia, through mountains and deserts with no back up, no support and no set route.

Why on FLAT EARTH are we doing this? Driving to Mongolia seems all fun and games, however we also find it the perfect opportunity to raise money for 2 charities (Mercy Corps and Cool Earth) that together, we feel poignant and important to our adventure.

Dry summers and harsh winters, consequences of climate change, have degraded 70% of Mongolia’s pastoral land, seriously affecting Mongolians’ ability to effectively farm.
In a country so dependent on agriculture, which employs 1/3 of the country’s labour force, this has major repercussions.

Instead of just shipping out foreign, trained, specialists to solve these problems, this offers a sustainable and effective solution to helping individuals and families adapt to their increasingly deteriorating farmland.
Cool Earth - The official rally charity, an NGO working with rainforest communities to help reduce deforestation and effectively climate change. This is done by improving the quality of life of the communities most affected by deforestation so that they have the means to protect the forests from logging, agriculture and the many other threats to our climate.
