INTRODUCTION

The Team

Graham Hunter , John Ingham . Jason McIvor , Michael McBride ,Stewart McIvor , Damian Hayes , Alan Archer , Brian Pulleyn , Colin Hester , Nicola Hester-Egan .

On Friday 3rdJune 2016 myself and a group of ex forces friends , intend on completing two popular National events, except we are doing them back to back. We are taking on the National 3 Peaks (N3P) and Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Y3P) but as one challenge!

Our team will be completing the two tasks within 48hrs, this will also include travelling time. We aim to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities that are individually personal to each of us. As a team we welcome any support and help throughout...our chosen charitys are  Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and The Lake District search and mountain rescue Association

THE EVENT

This is a two phase challenge starts with the N3P, then is completed once we have finished the Y3P. Both are solely difficult and tough challenges in their own right, yet we are doing both in 48hrs. These 48hrs will see our team climbing six mountains and walking over 50 miles, we will be also travelling 1000 miles of road just getting to the challenges, eating and sleeping in our transport day and night until finished.

PHASE ONE – N3P

This first part of our mammoth task starts with the team tackling Britain's three highest mountains in Wales, England, and Scotland. The three mountains have to be climbed from top to bottom all inside 24 hrs. All travel is also included in this same 24hr period.

We start in Wales in Snowdonia to ascent Mt Snowdon, we then travel back to England to the Lake District to ascent Scafel Pike, then finally travelling up to Scotland's Fort William to ascent the daddy of all the British Mountains Ben Nevis. Throughout the challenge we are climbing over 10,000ft in height and walking a distance of over 30 miles. Ben Nevis is not a climb for your average rambler, and due to our time scale our team will have no option but to tackle this massive mountain to the summit in total darkness, our path only being illuminated by head torches to assist our navigation.

The three Mountains measure:

Mt Snowdon 3,560ft
Scafel Pike 3,209ft
Ben Nevis 4,409ft

The total ascent of 9,800ft is pure up hill. Once our final Mountain is completed the team will be transported to Horton in Ribblesdale, which is in North Yorkshire, to commence phase two of our challenge.

PHASE TWO – Y3P

The second phase of our challenge is to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. This consists of climbing Yorkshire's three highest mountains over a planned route of 26 miles, all within 12 hrs. Starting and ending in Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire. The team will be walking the equivalent of the London Marathon and climbing three mountains along the way. The challenge starts with the ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, then the ascent of Whernside, and finally ending with the what I'm sure will an emotional ascent of Ingleborough.

The three mountains measure in as follows:

Pen-y-Ghent 2,277ft
Whernside 2,415ft
Ingleborough 2,372ft

Total ascent of 5,249ft over 26 miles.

STATISTICS

To put the challenge into perspective so you can see the enormity of what we have set ourselves a target of, some of these statistics may help;

We will be walking a total distance of 53.1 miles, which is the equivalent of walking from Burnley to Liverpool.

We will have climbed the total height of 15,049 feet, which is nearly as high as world famous mountains such as; MT Kilimanjaro 16,001 feet, Mont Blanc 15,780 feet and higher than Matterhorn which 14,619 feet.

REMEMBER THIS MUST BE COMPLETED ALL INSIDE OF 48 HOURS.

we as a team and our chosen charitys would appreciate it if you could find it in your heart to donate as little or as much as you can afford THANK YOU
