We are Emma - she is the one who wore us down with her enthusiasm and persistence. Linda the' New' girl who made the suggestion in the first instance. Adele, Lucy, Nichola, Emma and myself. Below we explain why we are doing the Santa Dash or in our case fast stroll!!! If you come to watch us we will be the ones with fairy lights and tinsel adorning our Santa suits, that's got to be worth something!! We have a realistic goal and are already almost halfway there thanks to the generosity of our work colleagues please help us meet our target, to exceed it would be brilliant.
Emma - When we first talked of doing the Santa Dash I had a vision of running at full pelt through the streets of Liverpool, with crowds cheering me on with every stride I took, crossing the winning post with my friends at my side and relishing in the thought that we had worked as a team, our sole purpose to run this race in the fastest possible time. So, it came as something of a surprise when I realised that the rest of my team had other ideas. They did not want to so much as 'dash' but to 'stroll'. They did not want to feel the sweat on their brow, the wind racing thought their hair. No, it was something much more intrinsic than this that had convinced them to take part and then it came to me what exactly that was. It was the thought of dressing up as Father Christmas which had appealed to them. It was at this point it dawned on me that the people I worked with had a secret fetish. They weren't interested in 'charity' or 'running' or taking part in the world's biggest Santa Dash. No, their secret yearning was to dress in a red suit, with a woolly trim, whilst sporting an artificial white beard. Yes, they obviously thought anyone can go for a stroll in their normal attire but what if they could combine this with their secret desire to cross dress as a plump old man. My mind whirled at the idea of who exactly I was working with but then I thought, why not, who am I to judge these people? Surely it is not up to me to tear down their dreams, I shall join them, support them in their quest and maybe one day we can all dress up as Santa. We will stand, tall and proud, in all of his red and white finery and when that day comes, my friend, I knew the world would be a better place! Linda - I'm running the Santa Dash because I foolishly challenged my boyfriend saying I could beat him in this race. I'll post his race number and if someone could stick their foot out as he runs by, then I should win my bet. Hi I am Adele one of the all mad girls doing the Santa Dash on 7th December. I am doing the Santa Dash as I always have wanted to do it, its for a worthy cause raising money for radio city’s cash for kids which is raised locally and used locally for children and under 18s with mental, physical or sensory disabilities. Thank you for the donations much appreciated Adele
Carolyn – Emma first mentioned to me about taking part in the Santa Dash a few weeks ago and after much derision (and total madness) not forgetting the idea of dressing up with fairy lights and tinsel becoming our own Christmas trees I agreed (the promise of a slap up breakfast afterwards followed by a Santa pub crawl helped). Now I’m not a runner so the agreement was a walk (I am a fast walker watch out Speedy Gonzales and Roadrunner) (oops giving my age away now) Once I had foolishly agreed to put my name down we all agreed if your going to do something then lets make it worth while and do it for Charity. There are of course many deserving charities out there but we wanted to something close to home and were closer than our own fair City, be generous and help us to make life a little easier for our deserving children. We hope you all find it in your hearts to give us the extra encouragement to raise as much as we possibly can for those needy children. Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope if nothing else our comments brighten your day. xx
