Arctic 100

Team photo

This March a team of 4 friends will trek 100km on Nordic skis across the Arctic wilds of Northern Finland. Carrying all the supplies needed to survive four days and nights in temperatuers as low as -30 degrees below. Their mission to raise money for the Lily Foundation and the work they are doing in support of finding a cure for Mitochondrial Disease.

This is a challenging and complex condition that until recently was little understood.

The Lily Foundation is committed to finding a cure for Mitochondrial Disease and has a three point mission;

1) Fund research to improve diagnosis and treatment options

2) Raise awareness of these conditions so they are more easily recognised

3) Support families with sick children.

James' youngest daughter (Poppy) has diagnosed wiht Mitochondrial Disease in 2012. Now 6 years old, Poppy is unable to walk, suffers significant gross motor function challenges and has very limited speech function.

Despite these challenges Poppy is an extraordinary little girl with a big smile and bigger personality.

We are undertaking this challenge for Poppy and the thousands of children like her.

Thanks for your support.
