Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. It seemed like a good idea at the time - the maracycle, a leisurely(!) cycle from Belfast to Dublin AND back to raise funds for Co-Operation Ireland and MacMillan Cancer.
220 miles on two wheels over the course of two days. Most of you will be very familiar with the distance from Belfast to Dublin: with the 'new road' now about 2 hours by car, 1 hour 40 by train and...dear only knows how long by bike! We thought we would put our challenge into context for you.
- 220 miles is158 return journeys from our offices to the High Court or 440 laps of a football pitch.
- Dave and Lisa have only just purchased their own set of two wheels and are just about ready to let go of the stabilisers
- it could take us around 10 hours each way: that's almost seven football matches back to back, 10 episodes of '24' or almost the length of the longest Wimbledon match ever! [To be fair, Darren hopes to make it to Dublin in 6 hours, the rest of us are just hoping to make it there in one piece (and we are not even thinking about the return journey)!]
