We've joined together to raise money for CALM. A charity close to both our hearts.
CALM is a national charity dedicated to preventing male suicide in the UK. Suicide is the single biggest cause of death of men aged 20-45 here and in 2014, 76% of suicides were male.
CALM provide a free, anonymous and confidential helpline and webchat service, open every day from 5pm to midnight which gives any man the chance to offload and talk through problems. Their professional helpline staff offer support, information and help finding specialist services.
They also campaign and challenge a culture that insists that a man who seeks support is somehow less of a man. We need to raise awareness of the issue so that everyone knows suicide is the single biggest cause of death of men under-45. We need to show that being silent isn’t being strong as well as push for change to improve suicide prevention policies and practices. If 76% of suicides are male, more needs to be done to reduce that number.
