Patricia Smith, our Lightweight Captain won’t have recovered in time from an
injury to race in the boat races this year, and instead is leading the way
to support the new sponsorship partnership with Cancer Research which has a personal connection to her and so many of the squad.
Patricia’s mother lost her battle with cancer in 2014 and she has been
inspired to create an initiative that combines her love of sport with her
wish to support scientific research to help in the fight against cancer.
She has taken on a challenge to take part in 27 Cambridge University sports
in the next 27 days, culminating in a a cycle with fellow squad member
Fanny Belais from Goldie Boathouse, Cambridge to Thames Rowing Club, Putney to cheer on our crews on 27th
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Join us as we support the final fundraising for ‘Project Ely’ the new Ely
Boathouse and CRUK, when we #PullTogether we can! The theme is 27 seats and 27 days of sports!
Help Patricia to raise £10,000 for CRUK.
#PullTogether for Ely
Become part of the fundraising drive to build a boathouse at Ely for our
squad. If together, we raise over £10,000 the 'Squad of 2016' will be
listed on the donor honours board at Ely. This will be a unique collective
gift and a first for this fundraising campaign. No other squad has been
recognised to date - let’s make this happen!
The power of this collective gift to support The Ely Boathouse will be
appreciated by the current group of athletes who will move into the new
boathouse in October 2016.
No gift is too small, let’s get behind the 2016 Squad ahead of 27th March
and secure their legacy at Ely.
