Hi everyone, thanks for visiting the #ForEllie JustGiving team page.
I'm Eddie, Ellie's Dad and along with a group of friends - Tom Cork, Tom Oakes, Glenn Lomax, Lewis Holroyd, Phil & Chris Cockroft, Gemma Finney, Sam Entwistle and Steve Canning (cheers guys means a lot) - I'll be running the Stafford Half Marathon 2019 on 17th March.
Our life was turned upsidedown in January last year when Ellie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was just 3.
During this journey we've had some horrible times and for any parent reading this I'm sure you'll agree there's no greater fear than losing a child. Ellie's been absolutely fantastic throughout it all and has continued to amaze me and her Mum by how she's taken everything in her stride and has continued to do amazingly well despite having to endure a gruelling chemotherapy regime.
We are fundraising for two charities that are important to us, CCPA and Children with Cancer UK.
Ellie's going to be on chemotherapy until March 2020 as treatment for childhood Leukaemia is a minimum of 2 years long, but we are extremley grateful that she has a very good chance of beating this horrible disease and this is undoubtably due to the advances in treatment over the years. We've seen and met so many children fighting their own cancer battles and the treatment is harsh, cruel and toxic and can do so much damage to their little bodies. The only way new, more effective and kinder treatments can be found is through cancer research - that's why we're fundraising for Children with Cancer UK.
We also know first hand how important it is to support families going through such an awful ordeal. We have been extremely fortunate to have had support from a number of charities which have helped us get through some of the toughest of days, and CCPA are a Staffordshire based charity that continue to support families when they are at their lowest, including us.
Our aim is to evenly split the funds we raise between the two charities so there are two buttons to donate down below.
