The process of leaving home and becoming an independent adult is an awkward one – there are always challenges, conflicts and calamities. Most of us, though we might not realise it, get a lot of help and support. But some of us don’t. And things can get messed up.
1625 Independent People is a Bristol based charity that makes sure that vulnerable young people, at this crucial stage of their life, get what they need to start afresh. If needed we can we provide temporary accommodation. Then we work with them on restarting the process of standing on their own two feet. This means helping them find, and keep, a safe, stable home, whilst also providing support, advice and counselling, training and getting jobs.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Foyer is an integrated learning and accommodation centre providing safe and secure housing, support and training for young people aged 16 – 25.
It offers 51 beds as well as fully equipped training facilities for teaching young people essential life skills as well as skills that will make it easier for them to get back into education or into a job. These include a media suite with music and film production resources, training kitchen, laundrette, and IT training suite.
We’re in the process of taking over the management of this property but have to raise £70,000 to get it fully operational.
You can either donate money, or put some time into helping us with our fundraising efforts.
