Kirsty and Matt's wedding

Team photo

Thanks for visiting Kirsty and Matt's wedding justgiving page.

Rather than having a traditional wedding gift list, we would like to donate the money you would have spent on gifts to four charities. The amount you donate will not be visible on our page, but please leave us a message. There is a little bit about each one below:

Sense – for deafblind people

Approximately 95% of the information we receive about the world is received through our eyes and ears. So those with limited vision and hearing face huge daily challenges. But given the right support deafblind people can develop their talents, making the most of their abilities to live fulfilling lives.

Sense has worked with deafblind people for over 50 years. They help deafblind children and their families and increasingly as our population is ageing they help growing numbers of people who are becoming deafblind through old age. Up to 242,000 people over the age of 75 in the UK may be deafblind through losing their sight and hearing due to old age.

An example of what your gift may buy is below:

A £15 donation could cover the cost of a tactile book to develop a child's sense of sight and touch.

A £20 donation could cover the cost of a support worker who will be the eyes and ears of an older deafblind person, enabling them to remain independent by helping with the shopping or visiting the post office.

A £30 donation could pay for a group of deafblind children to stimulate their senses of smell, touch and taste through chocolate-making on their Sense holiday.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

MSF an international medical aid agency with a reputation of not only being the first to arrive in a crisis-hit area, but often, the only organisation to be there at all. The movement was awarded the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize.
MSF provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict.

An example of what your gift may buy is below:

A £15 donation could cover the cost of a month's supply of the Antiretroviral Drugs that a person with HIV needs to not only survive, but to resume a normal, healthy life.

A £25 donation could cover the costs of buying enough medicine to treat 20 people for malaria - a treatable disease that currently kills one child every 30 seconds.

A £40 donation could cover the costs of enough vaccine to protect 25 children from the killer disease measles.

PDSA - for pets in need of vets

PDSA has been caring for the sick and injured pets of those unable to afford veterinary fees since 1917.Funded entirely by public support, PDSA provides more than 1.8 million free treatments each year, through a network of 47 PDSA PetAid hospitals and 352 PetAid practices.

Every month PDSA must raise more than £4 million to fund the delivery of its PetAid services. Without this support many sick and injured pets simply would not receive the treatment they so desperately need.

An example of what your gift may buy is below:

A £10 donation could buy over 50 metres of bandages for poorly paws.

A £25 donation could cover the medicine required to treat a pet in need.

A £50 donation could go towards the nursing care needed for pets staying overnight.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan support people and their families living with cancer. They help with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, families and communities. They guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. They fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. They also provide practical, emotional and financial support.
