I've decided to raise money for 2 x Charites. First off Prostate Cymru, to help sufferers of the most common cancer in men in Wales. Secondly to help sufferers of Sarcoidiosis, a little know and funded disease which affects the central nervous system. A close friend was recently diagnosed with it.
Those of you who know me will understand after completing dozens of road races, triathlons and all sorts, including 4 x London Marathons. and 4 x Ironman races, a simple 5k jog or completing the Gower Bike ride will not be enough, so I needed something a bit harder than those........ :-)
I've decided to ride from the Bombers' Saturday morning ride meeting point, The Bryncoch Pub, all the way down to Lands End in Cornwall. I'm planning on doing the full route, unsupported in 1 day (most Lands End to John O Groats cyclist take 2-3 days for this leg) The route will cover nearly 300 miles and over 20,000 feet of climbing, so even for a 4 x Ironman, its no mean feat!!!! I'll only be stopping to restock on food and drinks, as I anticipate burning nearly 10,000 calories for the whole ride. I'll be doing it mid summer 2016 to maximise the amount of daylight for the ride I'm hoping to do it in 18-20 hours depending on weather/traffic/acts of God!!!
