We've joined together to raise money to help find a treatment and cure for the life limiting gentic muscle wasting disorder, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). We have been inspired by local toddler Luke O'Hanlon who is the 6th boy in his family (Over 3 generations) to have this horrific disorder, which causes children to be full time wheelchair users by their early teens and causes premature death with the average life expectancy sitting at only 18-25.
For the first time ever there is promise of a treatment being available within the next 5 years but funding is needed to help complete clinical trials and get these potential drugs to market as soon as possible to help improve the quality of life and hopefully raise the life expectancy of these children. Every penny you donate will help to save a childs life and save their families from generations of heart ache so please dig deep or maybe even organise an event to help us meet our target of £20,000 by Septeber 2012.
