Mario Siblings (not Bros)

Team photo

So what is Team Mario Siblings and what are we fundraising for?

In March, Lee, Ben, Alan, Helen, John and Emily will be taking part in the Sri Lanka Rickshaw Run, an adventure that will see us driving, navigating, repairing and potentially pushing our auto-rickshaw across Sri Lanka. Yes, this is similar to the crazy Indian adventure that Lee, Alan and Emily did in 2016 and again in 2017... But in a new country and with three fantastic new team mates. And this time, we'll be dressed as the Mario Bros (no, not brothers, siblings!!).

We will be raising money for not one, not two, not three but four - yes four- fantastic charities (and are of course paying our own way to take part in the adventure). With £2000 to raise between us, we will be organising a number of fundraising activities over the coming months such as: a Christmas lights fun run, a pub quiz, a car boot sale and hopefully much more. So watch this space - and feel free to give us ideas if you have any!

So, tell us about these four great charities, I hear you ask!

Alder Hey Children's Hospital: Throughout his childhood, John underwent several surgeries at Alder Hey Children's Hospital so this charity is very dear to him - and therefore us. We'd love for your help to support other young people.

Professor Cunningham’s Research Fund, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity: Helen's uncle David received world class treatment from the Royal Marsden hospice during his battle with bowel cancer.  Although he lost his battle, you can help us find research to improve survival rates and improve quality of life for those fighting cancer.

Behcet's Syndrome Society: A few years ago, Lee was diagnosed with Behcets disease, a rare inflammatory autoimmune disease that is significantly under funded and therefore has little research into causes, solutions or management.

Cool Earth: This is the Adventurist's chosen charity, that works alongside indiginous villages to halt the destruction of rainforests. A worthy charity but if you don't believe us, listen to Sir David Attenborough: “Helping Cool Earth to halt tropical deforestation makes a real difference. Perhaps the biggest difference we will make in our whole lives.”

It would be amazing if you could help us smash our goal. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.  And we really hope to see you at one of our upcoming fundraising events too!
