The Michael Alton Memorial Fund is set up in memory of Michael Anthony Alton who died of epilepsy at age 7 unexpectedly. Liane Alton (Michael’s sister) decided she wanted to try and do something in his memory so visited the Epilepsy Research UK page. She found that she could set up a memorial page on their website, this enables you to fundraise in your loved ones name, and she decided this was perfect. It was here she discovered how frequently people lose a loved one to epilepsy; she was surprised by the amount of people that lost their lives yet how little people knew about it. This is where the idea of this memorial fund came about, not only did she want to raise money for Epilepsy Research UK in order to help them continue with their ground breaking research, she also wanted to help raise awareness of this condition and how it affects people’s lives.
