On Sunday 2nd of September 2018, I will be taking part in The Christie 100-mile bike ride in Manchester. Starting and finishing at Wythenshawe Park, the route heads first to Northwich, taking in Delamere Forest and Nantwich (the half-way point) before heading back through Middlewich to the finish.
This will be my first ever cycling challenge after taking up the sport again in 2017. This particular race means a lot to me as I had planned to complete this with my amazing cycle-mad partner, Carl Greenaway.
Sadly, in June 2017, Carl died in a car accident whilst on his way home from work.
Carl was an amazing person who was always there for his children, family, friends and me. We all miss him every day. This experience has not only opened my eyes to how precious life is, but also opened my heart to the love, care and support that I have received from family, friends and from the charities mentioned below. This support has been phenomenal.
Completing the 100-mile cycle will be a challenge, but one I am ready to take!
I would like to personally thank Aftermath Support for the ongoing support they provide to me. I am aiming to raise as much money as possible so that these charities can continue to support those who need it. My target is £750.

Aftermath Support
Aftermath Support works with people in Merseyside, Cheshire and Lancashire affected by the devastation of road crashes. They offer practical and emotional support to bereaved families and those suffering injury. They also support witnesses and drivers and services are tailored to meet individual needs.

Winston’s Wish
Winston's Wish is a childhood bereavement charity in the UK. The charity offers a wide range of practical support and guidance to bereaved children, their families and professionals. The charity currently supports 40,000 bereaved children and young people per year.

The Christie
The Christie provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds, focusing on 4 main areas, research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services. From providing continuous funding for the Cancer Information Centre and Wig Service. The Christie helps patients and their families cope with the effects of treatment.
