We are a group of friends who are all liked together in one way or another by one person. Our mutual friend was diagnosed with severe cancer caused by a large tumour in his abdomen. After a number of years of chemotherapy, operations and a number of even more challenging complications post-surgery, he recently was given 5 years clear.
We decided that we were going to tackle some tough challenges together and in the process raise awareness and raise money that may help someone else in the future. It was decided that our first challenge would be to complete the national 3 peaks challenge for Cancer research.
The name of our group represents our members because at the time of deciding to tackle a number of physically enduring challenges, the majority of the group had spent too much time eating pies instead of hitting the gym!!
Since this challenge was decided, there has been a dramatic change in the dimension of group in more ways than one. Everyone has taken this very seriously and have thrown themselves in to getting fit to complete the challenge ahead.
