SATELLITE OF LOVE’S WORDATHON FOR REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS
THANK YOU for visiting our team page for Satellite of Love’s Wordathon - think of it as a relay poetry, flash fiction and film event! We are all readers, poets, writers or filmmakers linked to Bristol and the surrounding area, raising money for refugees and asylum seekers.

We will all be raising money for Borderlands South West who work with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Many refugees have lost everything and their lives will never return to normal. Borderlands supports people in situations of social exclusion and marginalisation, especially asylum seekers and refugees. With the help of many volunteers, they provide practical and emotional support to people for whom life is difficult and challenging. Borderlands say:
‘Every pound that you donate makes a huge difference to the work we do helping to support disadvantaged people live a more fulfilled life’.
£15 pays for five people to eat a hot lunch at the Drop-in
£25 pays for a text book for asylum seekers to learn to speak English
£50 will help an asylum seeker get legal advice or pay for medical support here in the UK
SATELLITE OF LOVE’S WORDATHON
Between 1.30 pm and 6 pm on Saturday 10th June, a relay of 30 poets, flash fiction writers, and filmmakers will each read or perform for 5 minutes throughout the afternoon at the Arnolfini, Bristol.

Audience members can join us at any time throughout the day, staying for as long or as short a time as they wish. There will be a bookstall and tombola as well as information about Borderlands. Refreshments are available at the Arnolfini Café Bar on the ground floor of the building.

Satellite of Love is a poetry and spoken word event running once a month at The Greenbank Pub in Easton. It is run by Stella Quinlivan, Pauline Seawards and Helen Sheppard. Collections are taken each month for different refugee charities.
