Thanks for visiting my Ultra Marathon Challenge page.
As many of you will know, I've been running competitively for a few years now, starting with half marathons and progressing to a 52 mile ultra marathon last year.
This year I've decided to push myself further and do three races in 6 weeks - The London Marathon (26 miles), The Malvern Hills Ultra (82 miles) and the Housman Hundred (100 miles) - for two of my favourite charities.
Severn Hospice is a local charity that cares for terminally ill people and provides excellent palliative care at their Telford, Shrewsbury and Newtown Hospices in Shropshire/Mid Wales. I ran the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon for them last year and hope to raise a lot more with this challenge.
My other charity, Help for Heroes is a national charity which works to support our military heroes serving in Afghanistan and Iraq who have been wounded in the line of duty. I've chosen this charity to show my gratitude to the amazing work our troops are doing for our country.
There is no pressure to donate to both charities - please just choose the one that means something to you personally. All I ask is that you donate what you can afford and I will promise to do my best in all three races! The first race - The London Marathon - takes place on Sunday 17th March. Wish me luck!
You can follow my progress on Twitter - @ShropRunningMan - where I'll tweet my training progress and any results as they come. I'll also post updates on my fundraising progress.
Finally can I also ask that you tell your friends and family about my challenge and ask for any kind donations - it all helps!
Thanks so much in advance for your support. This will be a massive achievement for me and I'm really looking forward to it. BRING IT ON!!!!!
P.S. Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.
So please dig deep and donate now.
