TRAILING AROUND DARTMOOR (CHANGE OF EVENT!)!!

Team photo

Due to logistical setbacks I am now running the Plym Trail Autumn Marathon on the 20th October- harder and hillier but picturesque all the same!

Here we go again...

It has been over three years since I ran the London Marathon and I’m back in the running game but this time for two wonderful causes!

In October, I will be running the Plym Trails Marathon across Dartmoor for Save The Rhino and Naz and Matt Foundation.  Two very different charities but two which I am hugely passionate about for many reasons.

Firstly, Save The Rhino are a fantastic conservation charity, working to save all rhino species from the threat of extinction. This threat is down to human causes, as poaching for rhino horn has increased by over a staggering 2000% since 2006 and with horns (made mostly of the same substance as human fingernails) being worth more than gold on the black market. Donations made to Save The Rhino go towards improving anti-poaching units, veterinary care for the species and improved educational programmes.

My other chosen charity is Naz and Matt Foundation, who carry out incredible work in tackling cultural and religious homophobia. After his partner of 13 years tragically took his own life due to being rejected by family member for coming out as gay, Matt set up the charity in the memory of his fiancé, Naz. The organisation works to challenge homophobia within cultural and religious communities by raising awareness and supporting those in vulnerable situations. As debates around banning gay conversion therapy are still happening in the U.K. in 2018, the work that Naz and Matt Foundation carries out is significant in trying to avoid further tragedies as a result of stigmas towards the LGBTQ+ community.

It would mean a lot to me if you could spare even just a few pounds towards these causes. Both are important to me. I have grown up passionate about the conservation of endangered species (especially the rhino, which often gets overlooked for more “attractive“ animals). Having lived and worked within incredibly diverse communities and with many close friends and colleagues from a spectrum of cultures, ethnicities, genders and sexualities, I am also a strong believer in inclusion and encouraging equality through positive initiatives.

Should you wish to donate, select your chosen charity from the options on this page- donations to both are, of course, very welcome!

Not only will funds raised help these  charities continue their work but it will spur me on through the long, hot summer months of training, as well as the 26.2 mile slog on the day!

Thank you guys and gals and everyone in between xxx
