We are the TAQA OPFC Team – a mixed group of members of Operations Planning, Finance and Chemistry – and we aim to raise funds for JDRF to support Tobias’ Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Team members are Mhairi, Emma, Sylvia, Bob, Nikhil, Christan, Michael, Peter and Tobias.
Diabetes Type 1, also known as insulin-dependent diabetes, is an autoimmune condition where the immune system permanently destroys beta cells in your pancreas, meaning that the body can no longer produce insulin. The lifelong disease is treated by daily insulin injections and a healthy diet.
Diabetes Type 1 is often referred to as juvenile diabetes because it is the most common with children. However, the disease can be diagnosed at any age.
Currently, there is no known cure for Diabetes Type 1 but JDRF is committed to funding research to find one. It is only a question of time and your donation can help to make it happen sooner!
