I am Charlotte (Triathlotte) Woodcock, and I set up team Triathlotte.
I discovered at the beginning of the year after months of uncertainty that my dad had cancer of the pancreas, which was a huge shock to all the family. My dad has always been so fit, strong and healthy.
I had been toying with the idea of undertaking Ironman 70.3 but was daunted by the sheer distance and mental strength required. I had a word with myself.
This is where the team comes in - I am part of a fantastic club called Tri Northumberland. When I told my friends at the tri club what I was undetaking and why, three of my friends decided to enter and help fundraise for these fantastic charities.
Marius Van Aswegen, Iain Katz, Adam Rowe and myself are all completing Ironman Mallorca 70.3 on 10th May 2014. It's great to be part of a club which has such fantastic spirit and support.
Marius was an immediate 'yes' into the team after loosing his mum to cancer last year and his mother-in-law being diagnosed shortly after my dad with the same type of cancer this year.
Cancer affects so many people and their loved ones, that raising money for charities like Hospice Care Northumberland and The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation are cruicial in order for them to continue their vital work and research.
