In 2015 a member of our Team at VOICE was challenged like so many of us these days, with the heartbreak of a family member being diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer. Despite huge amounts of treatment and positivity growing for the family, sadly after time, it was established the Melanoma had spread through the body and to the Brain developing numerous inoperable tumours. Throughout this time Willen Hospice, Milton Keynes were a huge support to Pete and the family assisting with medical treatment, lymphedema appointments, home visits, facilitating equipment to be installed in the house for assistance e.g bathroom handles, seats, steps for entering the home and stair rails. They also provide day centres to help terminally poorly people get a day out of the house, and residential care for those who need a place of calm, tranquillity and peace when very poorly. These services provided by the hospice were also used by another of our Team member's family member very recently.
Sadly Zoe’s Dad passed away at home the afternoon of Monday 13th March 2017 and despite it being expected at a future point, it was sudden, unexpected and beyond heart-breaking for the family. He was told that morning he was going to be a ‘Pop’ for the second time. Like all Hospice’s, Willen provide so much support and care for individuals and their families including during bereavement.
Towards the end of 2016, Zoe decided she wanted to raise money to help fund the incredible services at Willen Hospice to help support others get the treatment and support they need by doing a SkyDive. Jumping out of a plane, 15,000 ft, 120-150mph! Somehow, and one by one some of the incredible team at VOICE volunteered to join the challenge and we now have 8 People doing this crazy thing!! All support and service’s by Willen Hospice are free, almost totally funded by fundraising to provide tremendous help and support to some of our dear friends and colleagues, and many other local families who need it the most! Willen need to raise £3.6M every year to continue. That’s £7 every minute of every day. So here we are, asking for your help to help us achieve something huge and raise some money for a Hospice by doing a SkyDive, that we are almost all petrified to do!
