The Way of the (Manx) Roses

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So this time last year, my family were hit with a sledgehammer, “your Mum has had a stroke…..its significant”. Thankfully my Mum, like many before her, came through the worst of it, but the stroke has left her unable to walk again with complete disability down her left side. Sadly my Mum is not alone with Stroke being the leading cause of severe disability in the British Isles.

This cruel condition has robbed her of the simple pleasures she holds most dear; playing with her grandkids, baking and gardening. She has battled on regardless with huge support from my Dad, her principle carer. I am so proud of their achievements and positivity. We try to do as much as we can to help, but embarrassingly raising a young family limits the support we can give on a day to day basis. We are therefore so grateful to charities like the Stroke Foundation, Crossroads Care and Isle of Man Live at Home Scheme that provide essential support to my parents and others.

I thought it about time that I help raise some much needed funds for these charities to help them continue their fantastic work. So with two of my oldest friends, Mark Harvey and Graham Lunn, we thought we should take on a challenge to raise as much money as possible for these worthy charities. So come the 16 June 2018 the three of us and our two wheeled bicycles will attempt to cover the Way of the Roses, a 170 mile journey from the West to East coast of England, in just two days.

With so many charities in the world today it can be difficult to keep up with the constant requests for help and support, but I hope you have read my story and can find the time to dig into your pockets again and help our 3 man peloton support these three amazing charities.
