YMCA DownsLink Group provides supported accommodation for young people in Sussex and Surrey. Here in Mid Sussex, we house 22 vulnerable young people.
Last year, the residents started a 5-a-side football team. Football is a great form of exercise, provides opportunity for the young people to practise their teamwork and communication skills, gives a sense of belonging, and is lots of fun - all great for improving mental well-being.
As a charity, we have limited funds for leisure activities. We would like to raise £500 to pay for a year's worth of pitch hire, so that the Mid Sussex Maroons can play monthly matches against other local or YMCA teams. Anything more that we raise will be used to to fund other leisure activities, to buy equipment, and to pay for summer BBQs.
