About us
The World War 1 Remembrance Centre in Portsmouth, is a registered charity no. 1195390 and is dedicated to the eternal memory of those who fought and died in the conflict. We promote remembrance through education and commemoration to ensure that present and future generations never forget the sacrifices made by past generations.
The World War 1 Remembrance Centre is a very important and often overlooked museum in Portsmouth.
The Museum is run by volunteers and relies entirely on public donations.
Although small, the stories our guides tell to take you through the war are informative and often moving. They don’t just talk about acts of heroism rewarded with medals, they tell you about everyday lives of the solders in trenches, how Winnie the Pooh came to be written and what the general populace back home were doing to cope with life when the world was at war.
