Story
Geleen and Back for Jack!
Thursday, 30 June - Monday, 4 July
Inspired by the difficulties faced by the son of one of our colleagues on LDPE, and in particular his recent period in hospital, we would like to raise as much money as possible to support some of the charities that help him and many other children.
Starting on Thursday, 30 June, we want to do this by cycling 475 miles from one SABIC manufacturing site in Redcar, North East England, to another, in Geleen, South of The Netherlands… and back, taking a total of four days to complete!
Jack has a very rare and severe neurological condition that requires a huge amount of special care. The help provided to children like Jack by local charities hugely improves everyday life for them and their families.
One of the charities that provides this crucial support is Remembering Rebecca. This local Teesside charity helps and supports children with neurological conditions, particularly through the provision of very expensive specialist equipment such as supportive seating, sensory equipment and specialist car seats.
Another is Zoë’s Place, where Jack and other children, along with their families, benefit from superb specialist respite care.
Jack also recently had to spend two weeks in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough due to his condition. Without this outstanding critical care, Jack, and other children with similar conditions, may not be here today.
Please help us to raise as much money as possible to support these great causes, and allow them to continue their fantastic work to make the lives of the children they help as happy and fulfilling as possible.
