Story
It is time to create new values in Higher Education, a more flattened hierarchy, all of us 'scholars', no fees, a Higher Education co-op. Social Science Centre Lincoln have been operating along these lines since 2011. SSC Manchester marks the inauguration of the second SSC in the UK. SSC Lincoln granted their approval at their AGM on May 7, 2016. We need many more branches, but first we need to get this one up and running. We need money for room hire for the first phase, September to December 2016, and some money for print. This is a call for seed money to set up a self-sustaining co-op. Social Science Centre Manchester will begin with exactly the same model and constitution SSC Lincoln did. If you believe in an alternative to the current neoliberal model, please help: https://sscmanchester.wordpress.com/

9 years agoSOCIAL SCIENCE CENTRE MANCHESTER has hit its funding target! THANKYOU to all our donors. We will not let you down! Here's to embarking on a long and rich journey together! Bless the SSC and all who sail therein! May there be many more branches to follow the first two! Alastair Bonnett, that is a humbling donation, what a hugely generous thing to do! Well, we can be as 'outside' as we like, but the funding campaign has benefited hugely from people in mainstream HE being generous and open-minded. THANKYOU TO OUR MEMBERS! THANKYOU EVERYONE!

9 years agoWe have seven days to go! We have done spectacularly well. 63% of the target has been raised. The last few days have only underlined the need to get Social Science Centre running as a much bigger entity. We are working on that, but could you send out a call to your networks for one last push please? If you could do that it would be greatly appreciated. Deborah Withers, maybe set up the SSC in Bristol? Contact us, or the Lincoln branch. Devolution is now inevitable, so let us all devolve into socialism! Avanti!
