Hi everyone, I am raising funds to Imara International which is a charity that empowers teenage mothers through encouraging them to finish high school while their children are looked after and given basic education as well.(Imara is a Swahili word meaning “strong” or “resolute.”)

The centre rescues the girls from what would be forced marriages and life on the streets giving them life skills through which they can then manage to fend and sustain themselves financially while giving them the social and emotional support they need. Imara international is about the children and their mothers and aim to keep them together.

With the increase of street children in Kenya, the centre is providing a long term solution that looks to break the cycle of poverty through empowering rather than enabling the young girls. Your contribution will therefore go a long way in supporting the education of this young girls and their children as well as providing materials for their various projects such as beaded jewellery and baked goods. It will also ensure that they are well cared for and have the necessary resources to keep the centre running.
