80% of blindness is preventable. Zomba District in Malawi has one of the lowest cataract operations performed per million population per year in the world. Zomba District has a population of over 3 million people. This year we aim to focus our work in the Zomba region.

The money raised will go towards cataract surgery at Zomba Central Hospital in 2016. £40 will fund one cataract operation and pay for one pair of glasses. The more money we can raise the more sight we can restore. We aim to make this a sustainable programme by getting supporting local initiatives at Zomba.
