Story
The Ukrainian Children of War project is a cooperation between the Dnipro Appeal charity, the Ukrainian Community in Edinburgh, the Ministry of Social Policy in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Consulate in Edinburgh, the River of Life charity (Ріка Життя) in Ukraine, and volunteers/host families in Edinburgh.
The aim of the project is to bring 20 children, aged 9-15, that have lost a parent in the war in Ukraine, to Scotland for a 10-day holiday in the autumn of 2016. The children will live with host families in the Edinburgh region and will take part in a number of joint activities and visits during their stay. By taking the children away from their everyday activities in Ukraine, we hope to give them good memories and experiences to help them cope with the recent loss of a parent.
The project is conducted in accordance with Scottish and Ukrainian law, and all host families and volunteers go through the appropriate checks and vetting processes required to be allowed to work with children.
