They say that a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step; for Clive and I it started with the first pedal stroke!

We set off from John O'Groats on 17th June and cycled 1020 miles via Haltwhistle, the very centre of Britain,  arriving at Land's End on the 29th. So we didn't just go 'End to End'; we went 'Top, Middle and Bottom'!

Some days were sheer cycling bliss! We passed lochs and glens under cloudless blue skies and on one occasion in Scotland swam in a beautiful babbling river complete with waterfalls and natural bathing pools!

Other days were tough. On one day in The Lake District we struggled for miles up and over what looked and felt like a mountain - and if it looks and feels like a mountain, believe me it is a mountain! We then experienced the joy and satisfaction of freewheeling for miles down the other side on a switchback road with breathtaking views only to be confronted at the foot of the descent by another obscene wall of Tarmac snaking into the heavens! This particular day ended when finally we rolled into a lovely hotel in Clitheroe where we ate like kings and slept like babies in preparation for the next day's two wheel adventure!

Both Clive and I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and so generously donated money to the mental health charity, MIND.  I  chose this charity in memory of my childhood friend Jason who died last year.
