Bupa Great Manchester Run 2009 · 17 May 2009 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Bupa Great Manchester Run 2009.

Roland, Kat and myself are running the Great Manchester Run this year for the Alzheimer's Society in memory of my Gran & Granddad who both died last year.

My Granddad died in September 2008. It was a very sad time, especially as my Gran was suffering with Alzheimer's and didn't understand what was going on. My Gran died just two months later.

We would like to raise funds for this important charity to show our appreciation for the care my Gran received over the last few years of her life, as well as provide funds for research into the causes and possible cures for this disease.

As anyone who knows us will tell you, we certainly aren't three extremely fit people, so this will certainly be a struggle. Kat and myself have run the Great Manchester Run twice before, so we are both aiming to beat our previous times. This is Roland's first time, so I would imagine he's just going to be aiming to beat us!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now. Any amount would be greatly appreciated!
