Story

WHAT we're doing:

August 25th 2008, we will be abseiling down Dinas Rock in Swansea.

WHAT the money is in aid of:

Rekai Tangwena Children's Home was started by Holy Cross Church, Nyanga, Zimbabwe because they saw the increasing need to care for orphans and vulnerable children; whom mostly have been effected by HIV AIDS in Zimbabwe.

The Children's home is run by members of Holy Cross Church, under the care of Livingstone Nerwande, which currently homes 20 children, aged 5-18.

Over the past couple of years, with the help of Church offerings within the UK, the home has been able to make small improvements - a security perimeter to new land, a stove and some minor roof repairs, but these improvements are poorly suited for the need of a children's home.

WHERE the money will be used:
The money raised from those participating in the abseil challenge will be given to the children's home to build an Orphan and Vulnerable Children's Centre on a new site which has been purchased with help from donations. This will be better equipped to home these children and give them a better standard of living. - No more leaky roof tops, fear of break-ins or thievery, broken down or dangerous buildings...

In the long run - Future Plans:
There are long term plans to build a 'mini-village', where money will be used to pay local merchants, tradesman and labour to contribute to the local (troubled) economy to build these plans set out in their vision - managed housing, leisure facilities, a grain mill, chicken run and kitchen garden.

WHY we're doing it:
I think it's pretty obvious as to WHY we're both doing this challenge ; to raise money so that these children can have better living conditions.
Plus those who know me well (Nay here), will know I am rather (slightly under-exagerated!) afraid of heights so to do this will be absolutely and extremely terrifying but also exciting!!! Plus Dan will get the enjoy this extreme sport and know the money raised is going straight to these children.

So, please sponsor us - even if it a small amount, as every little will help - plus if you are a tax payer, 28p in every pound you give will be added onto your donation automatically.
