A friend of ours, Charlie Fidler has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called pseudomyxoma peritoneii. Because this condition is very rare, there are only two designated UK
specialist centres for treating patients, one of these being the Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust which is where Charlie is being treated.
Our plan is to raise some money for them by going for a 100 mile trek. The walk starts on 1st August in Suffolk at Knettishall Heath Country Park and follows the route of a
Roman road to Holme-next-the-Sea on the north Norfolk coast. At Holme
the Peddars Way meets the Norfolk Coast Path as it runs from Hunstanton
to Cromer. The official length is 93 miles (150 km), but I can assure you we'll make up the extra 7 miles by a) getting lost, b) trying to find somewhere to sleep and most likely c) finding the pubs along the way! The plan is to finish this in 7 days, camping wild where possible.
The crew so far consists of Joe Wells, Kris Vail, Adam Vail, Martin Harrison, Ryan Wood, Anthony Wood, Danny Lee, Curtis Smith, Alex Kaare, Alex Szeremeta and Justin Ayre along with kind help from Abbie Upton. All in all, a total combined experience of absolutely nothing!
Any donations however large or small will be very much appreciated and go a long way to help present and future patients with the same condition as Charlie.
