RUN FOR JAPAN · 9 April 2011
Thank you for taking the time to visit my "1000km Run For Japan page".
As you may know, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit Japan, which caused a huge tsunami. The damage in the Tohoku-area is catastrophic, sadly at least 10,000 people are missing or presumed dead. Millions of survivors remain without electricity. About 310,000 people have been evacuated to emergency shelters.
Japan has been one of the biggest donors of foreign aid over the years and so we believe that this is the time to support Japan, just like they have supported so many other countries in need.
It is frustrating that we cannot help them physically but there must be something what we could do from outside Japan.
This is why we decided to set up a RUN FOR JAPAN campaign. Our aim is to run 1000km. We would very much like you to help us do that. The idea is that you run (or walk) a chosen distance and then get people to make a donation to GlobalGiving via our fundraising page (http://www.justgiving.com/1000km-runforjapan). Tell us how much you have run and we will add it to our running total :-). We ran 153km last week to start it off. It's still far away to finish but there will be a lot more to come. We will update our running total on our Facebook page as well.
