Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page of Gregg Howarth, Adrian Swinbourne and Jon Graves.
We are going to attempt to ride 1000 miles in 24hrs. Sounds easy by car, with climate control, sat-nav,your favourite tunes on the stereo and you sat there in your shorts, t-shirt and trainers - But we're doing it on motorcycles, without any of the luxuries that a car affords you...
The idea is to raise money for the poppy appeal, raise awareness of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch and the Iron Butt Association.
We will be setting off from Squires Cafe Bar (just outside Leeds) on the 23rd June 2012, taking the South Clockwise route taking in Dover, Southampton, Redruth, Telford, the outskirts of Mersyside and the M62, before hopefully making it back to Squires less than 24 hours later.
On the journey we are required to collect and document evidence such as VAT/food/fuel reciepts from the fuel stations on the log and documented mileage and stops, and there are mandatory stops that I have to make in order to have completed the challenge.
On the day the whole event/journey will be updated via facebook so you know we are actually participating, a photo album of evidence will also be posted on face book again so you can not only how knackered we are going to look but to see we have actually completed it.
We also plan to use an application called "Glympse" which will allow anyone of our facebook friends to follow our progress in realtime on facebook - It has a maximum tracking time of 4 hours, so we'll need to remember to keep restarting it lol :?)
Because this event is to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, we are on the lookout for people to sponsor us - As little as a quid will help immensely.
Thank you for your support
So far, we will be riding as a trio, unless any of you feel mad enough to accompany us - You just need a bike capable of making it, willpower and a good sense of adventure and humour :?)
So what do you think? will you sponsor/support us?
