We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

2014 is set to be an epic year for Tim as he undertakes a series of sporting and endurance challenges as part of his 100% Challenge to raise vital funds to support the work of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The 100% Challenge involves 10 events and the idea came to Tim after his brother, Stephen, was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye condition that causes sight loss and can lead to blindness. By March 2013, Stephen only had 10% of his sight remaining. The 10 challenges represent Stephen’s eyesight today and 100, according to RNIB, is the number of people who lose their eyesight each day in the UK.

All the challenge events that Tim intends to embark on will take place between January and December 31st and they kicked off on the 1st January 2014 with the Serpentine New Years Day 10km run in Hyde Park. Other events during the year include; running 100 marathon miles throughout 2014; including the London Marathon, the Great North Run and the Royal Parks Half Marathon. He also intends to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats; 100 miles a day for 10 days and swim 100kms over the year.

Other events lined up for 2014 include:

- Ride London-Surrey 100 bike ride (100 miles)
- London to Brighton bike ride (100km's)
- Thames Path 100km challenge walk
- Trailwalker 100km challenge walk
- parachute jump from 10,000 feet, with 9 others
