Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Here's the background.
In May 1986, my good friend Trevor Renouf was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease. He fought hard but suffered a number of reversals and sadly in March 1987 he died...he was 24.
In June 2006, my sister was diagnosed with the same cancer she fought hard but suffered reversals then in December was given a treatment that wasn't avalible in 1986 and still isn't that widespead today. At the beginning of March a scan revealed that the cancer was gone and that there is a very low probability of it coming back.
Of course, this treatment and its implimentation was only possible thanks to the many thousands of doctors and researchers working to find better ways of treating this disease.
That's why on the 21st of June in an act of madness my goal is to play at least 100 holes of golf (and that's walking not riding!) or to put it another way cover the distance of a marathon while playing golf, and in the process, raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.
With this cash we can support the people who are making it possible for more families to spend more time together. That can't be bad right?
Please dig deep ...These days a tenner won't buy a round of drinks but it can make a difference.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So as Bob Geldof once so eloquently put it "just give us yer f$%in money!"
Many thanks for your support.
