UPDATE

We have managed to complete our challenge in a fantastic 5 days 5hrs!!  Four started out and only 3 finished...this included infected toes, sprained ankles and burst knees but we managed to achieve our goal in a fantastic time.  A huge thanks to all of you who have sponsored us so far.  We will be keeping the site open for another month so that means that everyone still has a chance to donate towards a fantastic cause

At the beginning of June 2010, four brave souls (brave or slightly insane) are planning to tackle the top ten mountains in the United Kingdom over 6 days.

During the six days they will tackle the ten mountains and just to make it that little bit more difficult they are planning to cycle between each location!

Starting off in Aviemore, they will ascend the slopes of the mighty Cairngorm, immediately tackling its even taller neighbour Ben Macdui. Dropping off Ben Macdui into the formidable Lairig Ghru  they will then ascend the slopes of Coire Odhar towards Cairn Toul and Sgor an Lochain Uaine stopping there for an evening under the stars on one of the highest points in the United Kingdom.

Waking early the next day the group will summit Braeriach, then begin their descent back down towards the Sugar Bowl car park (just below Cairngorm Ski Centre). Not satisfied with only doing 1 mountain that day, they will then jump onto their bicycles and begin the 60 mile cycle to Fort William

Once in Fort William and after hopefully a good nights rest the group will then start off on their ascent towards Anoch Mor and onto Anoch Beag, successfully ticking of another 2 of the ten highest mountains. Another night under the stars and the group will awake to begin there trek up towards the highest of them all... Ben Nevis, but not before they reach the summit of Carn Mor Dearg and navigate the Carn Mor Dearg arete.

So having successfully completed 9 of the 10 highest mountains, all that is left is a 75 mile cycle to Killin, attempt to recover overnight and begin a lovely trek to the summit of Ben Lawers, seems insignificant after the 4 previous days!

So In Summary,

10 Highest Mountains in the UK
60 miles of walking
135 miles of cycling
8865 metres climbed

The group are putting themselves through this so they can raise money for the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research. A Glasgow based charity at the forefront of research into understanding cancer cell behaviour.
