Story
Well, last sunday night we did it. After 6 weeks of freezing mornings and rainy sunday afternoons jogging round and round the parks, highways and 'A' roads of London town, the big day arrived and we gathered our shivering limbs in southwark shopping centre to being the nike 10km run.
This was a night run, so we had to do the whole thing in the dark, which added a whole new evil dimension to finding your way round the course! Avoiding the cobbles, the barriers, the pedestrians, the strategically placed chip shop and the local youths whose ambition was to trip up a poor hapless runner or ten we ran our collective hearts out.
50 mins or so later it was all over. And our little team had all finished in the top third of the assembled field of top, international atheletes. Smug faces and shiny medels all round, and then last orders down the pub for a celebratory stella.
We all are amazed and overjoyed at the support given to us, both encouragement prior to the run, and the incredible sum of money raised for this charity. We are thankful for all of your support, and wish to give you advance warning of upcoming events......... Next stop the death valley endurance race 2005. (probably)
All the best to all our fantastic, generous supporters who have donated their hard earned money to this appeal (and who couldn't be arsed to actually do it themselves).
PS. visit www.runlondon.com and click "watch yourself finish". Enter the name of your favorate runner and you can try and spot them as they cross the line. It's not easy, and there are no prizes I'm afraid!
