Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

UPDATE: we all completed our runs, between 1h6 and 1h17 - so pretty good (don't forget the big hills!).  Many thanks to all who have donated - it's not too late if you still want to give anything.

We are running the Firle 10k/Mortimer 10k to raise money for the Histiocytosis Research Trust.  This charity raises money for research into Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH).  LCH is a rare disease – we think that about 1 in 200,000 children are affected each year.    Because it is so rare, there is not much research into its cause and treatment, and it is often referred to as an ‘orphan disease’, meaning that it affects too few people to generate government-supported research.  Keri's son Liam was diagnosed with multisystem LCH in Jan 2008, and since then family and friends have been trying to raise as much money as possible.  The charity also provides family support, and is involved in organising an annual 'think-tank' meeting for LCH experts from around the world - at the last meeting in May Liam's case was presented and discussed by all the leading doctors.

As this is a cause close to our hearts, we appreciate every pound you can donate.

Keri, Becky, Morwenna and Giselle are doing the Firle 10k across the South Downs, which has some scary looking hills, while Bella will be doing the slightly flatter 10k in her home town of Mortimer.

For Morwenna it is a good excuse to get fit again after the birth of her third daughter in March (actually the training is just an excuse to get out of the house without a pram attached to her).   Becky has been training hard, so is aiming to finish in 50 min.  Keri is struggling to fit in any training along with everything else, so will be happy just to finish in one piece. Giselle is a fitness freak, so will be doing the run in a scuba divers outfit, and when she has finished she will go back and give Keri a piggy back.  Bella's route goes past her front door twice (so if it all gets too much she plans to pop home for a cup of tea and then rejoin for the finish line, perhaps with a stop off for some blackberries on that final lane). She is hoping the finish the run on the same day that she started, and hoping to avoid tell-tale crumbs and blackberry stains.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
