I'm running 12 10ks in 2012 for three different charities. I have chosen to raise funds for the Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) because I really admire the fact that EVERY PENNY raised by TDT is given to grassroots community projects in Tanzania. I've been involved with TDT for 3 years or so and know how dedicated its team of volunteers are.

TDT supports community projects in Tanzania which make a real difference on the ground; for example, equipping a community clinic, digging a well in a village with no freshwater access, providing textbooks and desks to help children learn better, building latrines so that girls can go to school throughout the month, buying goats or beehives to generate income for a community and so on. All projects are run by local community groups or local NGOs. TDT has no employed staff although many members have personal connections with Tanzania and visit projects regularly to see how they are getting on and check our funds were used well.
